ESRC – Annual Reports
Over a six-year period, I had the pleasure of designing ESRC’s Annual Reports and Accounts — each one communicating the organisation’s strategic agenda to advance social science and its value to the UK.
While ensuring clarity and consistency in the typesetting and structure of essential data, I approached each report with a fresh visual concept to differentiate it from previous years.
- 2005: Commissioned bespoke illustrations representing the breadth of social science disciplines.
- 2006: Employed a graphic style inspired by Polaroid photography to highlight the diversity of the UK population.
- 2007: Directed a studio photoshoot featuring symbolic items such as passports, train tickets, toys, and police tape — designed to capture the everyday objects that shape British life.
Each year’s design aimed to reflect the social landscape of the time while maintaining a tone of optimism for the future.
